In Memoriam: Shadow

"Heaven at home was beyond amazing from the start. The compassion they have for you when making this hard decision and during the actual process. Thank you for making a very difficult time as simple as possible."

On December 31, 2022 we said goodbye to our sweet KiKi, aka Shadow, he was 8 years old. Surrounded by a broken hearted mommy and daddy, our sweet boy went to sleep. I adopted Shadow in 2014 when he was just about 2 months old and I immediately fell in love. He was the most amazing kitty I could have ever dreamed for. Life was a roller coaster, with lots of changes but the love we had for each other never changed. He was always there for me through the good and the bad. Shadow loved to watch the birds from his tower and lounge in the warm summer sun shining in through the windows. He was a frequent cat nip user causing him to get the spontaneous zoomies and also loved to carry his favorite cat nip mouse around meowing away while doing so. Shadow loved to always be by us and would sleep on me or my husband every night. In mid 2022 Shadow began to develop a lump on his jaw and we immediately took him in. After ruling out infection, they suspected cancer and I was referred to an oncologist. So we went to the oncologist and he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma and there was nothing we could do but keep him comfortable. The tumor grew fast and we finally had to make the decision to put him to sleep before the tumor completely closed off his throat. Shadow was so strong all the way till his last breath. We miss him so much and are lost without him. Until we see you again, we love you sweet KiKi.
