In Memoriam: Hoover

By Lisa Vande Kopple, published on March 6th, 2025
"Heaven at home are angels. They answered many panicked phone calls the last year and talked me down. He was in a lot of pain and deteriorated fast the last day. Thank you so much for responding quickly, helping him relax with no pain, so we could all say goodbye. We will be forever grateful."

Our dogs have always chosen us, and Hoover was no different. We went to a pet adoption event @Luvnpupz. Hoover walked over, curled up in my lap, and went to sleep. He said I’m comfortable and home.

He brought the goofy into our home. He was a big dork. Always snuffling on the floor looking for a lost morsel of food, hence his name. He was the King of giving side eye. He was always asking insistently, did you forget to feed me because I’m sure it’s past dinner/lunch/breakfast/2nd breakfast/snack time.

He was the annoying little brother to our older dogs and the soul mate to our last addition to the family, his girl Mazey. They were inseparable. Which is why we chose to say goodbye at home, so she could understand and not think he went for a car ride without her.
