In Memoriam: Mario

By Laura Bowyer, published on March 31st, 2025
"From the initial phone call to the final in-home visit, the staff at Heaven at Home were nothing but compassionate and kind. They made the process as easy as they could and I would highly recommend their services. "

At the age of 14, Mario lost his family when his mom had to be moved to a memory care facility and his dad had to be moved to an assisted living center. We were honored that Tysons Place Animal Rescue chose us to be his second family and help him live out his golden years. Mario was wholeheartedly welcomed into our family and he joined us in everything that we did. He visited the horse barn and met horses, he came camping with us and explored the UP, he joined us for walks, trips to the beach and numerous road trip adventures. Mario even came to work with me and enjoyed puttering up and down the office hallway visiting my co-workers. Mario was completely deaf and suffered from congestive heart failure, but that didn’t seem to slow him down. He was such a joy to have in our family and I’m so glad we were able to give him some fun life experiences. His sweet little soul is so missed, but we know he’s in a better place.
