We adopted Bo when she was 8 years old from a family friend in Ohio. She had so much energy and would run and pull us through the park on her walks. Her favorite place was Hager Park. At the end of the trail was a big swimming hole. She would run all the way down the trail and jump in, making a big splash! She loved doing this every day and continued doing it up until about 3 years ago, when she developed arthritis and kidney disease. We changed her food and water intake and she did fairly well for awhile, but the kidney disease got worse. Her walks got shorter and her runs turned into jogs and eventually slow walks. We had no idea that January 18 would be her last walk in Hager Park. She was 14 years old and too weak and too old to fight the kidney disease any longer. She hated the vet’s office and we did not want her last day to be filled with fear and misery, so we called Heaven at Home. We miss her so much, but are so thankful we were able to have her the past 6.5 years. She brought us so much joy, laughs and love into our home. We know we will see her again one day and are thankful she is no longer in pain.
In Memoriam: Bo
By Julie Schafer, published on January 27th, 2026"We were so blessed to be able to tell Bo goodbye while she laid on her dog bed in our living room, surrounded by all who love her. Dr. Hoss was so compassionate, sympathetic and understanding, while explaining everything she was doing. When we had said our final goodbyes, Dr. Hoss wrapped Bo in a blanket and put her on a stretcher and took her to the car with my husband. It was such a beautiful and peaceful goodbye and we are so thankful we were able to spare Bo from going to the vet's office. I know she was at peace and comfortable and felt very loved by all of us and Dr. Hoss. I cannot say enough good things about Heaven at Home. From the first phone call, we felt very cared about and knew Bo would be well cared for before, during and after our appointment. I am so glad we chose to spend our last moments with Bo at home where she felt safe, comfortable and loved. Thank you for showing Bo and our family so much love!!"
