In Memoriam: Chaz Michael Michaels

By Taylor Vaughn, published on November 11th, 2022
"Words cannot begin to express how grateful I am for the Heaven at Home Hospice team. Since discovering My dog Chaz had cancer and enrolling him with Heaven at Home, I have felt nothing but love and support from each member of the hospice team. Dr. Tillman arrived at our first visit and spent so much time reviewing all of the research she had done prior to our appointment on our dog’s condition and answering the hundreds of questions we had. We were so impressed that she had clearly spent time researching our dogs medical records and condition to create the best plan of care for our boy that also met our needs. We felt in control of the entire process and that was so important to us. Anytime I reached out to Heaven at home they provided prompt and caring responses and I always felt like they were caring for me just as much, if not more, than my dog. It’s clear that the staff at Heaven at Home are passionate about the care they provide. They are all literal angels. Lastly, Dr.Tillman provided the most beautiful and peaceful at home euthanasia for my boy and it has made a world of difference for me as I grieve this deep loss. I feel so blessed to have found such amazing people to help guide me in the last days of my dog’s life, and ensure that he was given the best quality of life possible- even as he passed. I cannot imagine how the team provides such amazing care day in and day out for so many, but they do and they do it well. I highly recommend the Heaven at Home team for all end of life pet needs. They have a special place in my heart 💜 "

Our sweet Chaz boy crossed the rainbow bridge on November 4th, 2022. With the assistance of Heaven at Home, Chaz was able to pass peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Chaz was the sweetest and most loyal dog that stumbled into his mom’s life as a stray dog running down her road when she was just 20. Over the last 12 years, Chaz enjoyed a life of traveling all over the country with many beach, camping, and hiking trips. Chaz even got to ride in an airplane a few times!

He provided our family with so much joy and love, and was always such a light to see at the end of every day and the beginning of every morning. He always greeted his mom when he heard her open her bite guard case in the morning and he was always SO happy to say good morning, no matter how early.

As a puppy, Chaz was full of energy and helped his mom discover her love for running as a way to exercise. Chaz and his mom enjoyed many years of long runs together. Along with running, Chaz enjoyed playing fetch, swimming, and hiking, and lots and lots of pets and belly scratches. Chaz made sure to never forget to pack a toy anytime we went for a trip- he always grabbed one of his favorite toys. Chaz’s favorite toy was a stuffed duck “ducky” which he greeted us with as a gift every time we got home. Chaz also enjoyed going for rides, especially rides that ended in a puppucino from his moms favorite coffee spot.

Chaz is survived by his mom- Taylor, dad-Ben, and two little dog brothers- Sanders and Cooper, who miss him dearly.

Chaz provided our family with so much unconditional love, and we are forever grateful for the last 12 years with our sweet angel who made every day a little brighter.
